A few things about me
(Or why I started this blog)
So, I used to rave and party a lot. From 28 to 55, it was the number one priority in my life. (I was a late starter. Looking back, that was probably a good thing.) Back then, the proudest moment of my life was probably featuring in a Mixmag article (Clubbing Saved My Life. Yep, really!).

I held down an OK career as a middle manager in marketing, and I was a pretty hopeless boyfriend to a few girls along the way (a belated sorry to all involved). The weekends were what mattered (and quite a few midweek nights too, come to think of it).
Sometime in the 90s, I had a big family lunch in London, and for some reason I invited all my new raving pals along. I’m not entirely sure what was said to my Dad during the meal, but a week later I received a rather worried letter from him. At the end of it, he asked, “What will you do when the party is over?”
I probably laughed at the question back then, and of course I carried on partying. For a quarter of a century.

The thing is though, all through the party years, I loved walking and taking photos. I only went out on a proper hike a few times a year, but I always really enjoyed them. So when I hit my mid-50s and non-stop partying finally had to take a backseat, I needed a new hobby. Hiking and photography seemed as good a bet as any.

So here I am.

It’s February 2026 and I’m starting a photo blog to share my slowly improving photos with anyone who’s interested. Not that I’m really expecting anyone to be interested, so this is really just for my own amusement. I’ll write a few words alongside the photos, but not too many, because if reading about someone’s old raving tales is dull, then a middle-aged man writing about walking is way fucking duller.
