Socials and all that nonsense
Remember when social media was actually fun? Before it became an over-monetised, algorithm-driven, hyper-curated, performative hellscape drowning in AI-generated slop, rage-bait and conspiracy garbage endlessly shared by reality-denying wingnuts obsessed with “alternative truths”? Now it just feels like one giant advertising billboard for narcissistic billionaire tech parasites who seem determined to remake the world in their own ugly, egotistical image.
Anyway, I still use it occasionally, so you can find me on Facebook if you want.
Oh, and I rejoined Flickr after a 13-year gap recently. On the one hand, it has managed to avoid all the crap that’s happened to Facebook, Twitter/X, etc. On the other, It did that by basically remaining exactly the same and not being developed in any way whatsoever, which is a tad disappointing.
I will finally try Instagram soon, and possibly Bluesky too. Photocrowd looks interesting. Watch this space.
